Baxendale are pleased to announce the official opening of Child Dynamix’ new community nursery in West Hull. Set to create 53 nursery places and create jobs in the community, the new site in an underserved Hull ward is the culmination of an investment readiness support programme supported by Baxendale in 2016.
Child Dynamix, a social enterprise and charity that develops and delivers services to improve the lives of families and young people, operates in Hull where the level of child poverty is worse than the national average, with 34% of its children living in deprived households. High quality childcare in foundation years has a long-term impact on a child’s life chances and their parents’ ability to become economically active.
Investment
The purchase and refurbishment of the nursery site – a former construction company premises – was made possible via social investment from Social and Sustainable Capital (SASC) and a grant from Power to Change. Baxendale’s support to help Child Dynamic get ready for investment included market analysis, social impact measurement, business planning and financial modelling, enabled by a grant from the Childcare Investment Readiness Fund, funded by the Department of Education and managed by Social Investment Business.
Robin Naudi, a Manager at Baxendale, says: “This investment into Child Dynamix is an example of the power of social investment in supporting organisations grow their impact. In securing this finance, Child Dynamix will deliver more high-quality childcare places and more jobs in an area of Hull with very little nursery provision.”
