The EOA has marked the occasion with new data supporting the profound positive impact EO businesses have on the UK economy. The compelling figures demonstrate unequivocal benefits for companies that transition to this model.
The employee owned sector contributes £30 billion to the UK economy annually. Businesses that are employee owned are more resilient and actually grew sales by over 11% during the recession, compared to their non-employee owned counterparts’ growth of just 0.6%. Employees are more engaged, productive and less likely to move on to pastures new when they are owners.
At Baxendale we have worked with over 100 businesses on their journey to become employee owned or to help embed EO culture. Baxendale has over 30 years’ experience as an employee owned business and supports all kinds of organisations in their transition.
Flowstore – suppliers of storage and material handling systems – is one such business. With Baxendale’s support, they timed their transition to employee ownership perfectly, celebrating the beginning of a new chapter as shared owners today. Watch a video of former MD Simon Dennis explaining their reasons for the change.
