8th March is International Women’s Day and individuals and organisations all over the world are coming together to drive positive change for women.
The World Economic Forum predicts that the gender gap won’t close completely until 2186 and so parity must be accelerated through awareness-raising and galvanised support. The #BeBoldForChange campaign both celebrates the achievements of women plus presents a call to action: declare what you’ll do to progress the gender agenda.
At Baxendale – an employee owned business – being bold for change is part of our mission which is why we became a B Corp and why so much of our work focuses on creating positive and sustainable impact.
Both women and men benefit from employee ownership but as a model it can be particularly effective in promoting equality in the workforce. Employee Ownership encourages fair, transparent and progressive cultures that hold a mirror up to an organisation’s activities and cultivate environments where everyone has a voice.
Deb Oxley, Chief Executive of the Employee Ownership Association, is urging women working in employee owned businesses to share their stories, ensuring employee ownership is part of the International Women’s Day conversation. Add your voice to the throngs on Twitter by using the hashtag #BeBoldForChange, making sure you tag @employeeowned.
